The GUI or Graphical User Interface is what links you (the player) to you (the character) in the Rise universe. It manifests itself as the top and bottom bars/sections (also referred to as a letterbox) and are only visible when in exclusive-mode (full-screen) or when in windowed-mode and the window is maximized and the desktop resolution is sufficient.
