Acceleration

From Rise: The Vieneo Province

Acceleration

  1. The act of accelerating.
  2. The process of being accelerated.
  3. The rate of change of velocity with respect to time.

Simply put acceleration can be though of as a change to a vector. Mathematically speed is distance per time acceleration is distance per time per time. 1 G force is an acceleration of 9.8 Meters per second per second

John is jumping out a window 9.8 meters up he will hit the ground 1 second later. Having lived through that he jumps out a window 29.4 meter up the first second he will fall 9.8 Meters the second he will fall 19.6 Meters

The thing about space travel is it uses big distances and to understand the distances we need to think in closure vector at X Km/Sec. The body cannot withstand the huge G forces that would make space flight convenient. If you want to close 1000 km difference you first need to accelerate then decelerate. This often leads to curving approaches. The only way to deal with this is to allow time for the acceleration.
